A fatal accident inquiry is to be held into the death of a woman killed in a horror crash on the A9 road.

Amanda Harold, from Cumbernauld in North Lanarkshire, died after being involved in a two-car collision on the Inverness to Perth road in March last year.

The inquiry will take place at Inverness Sheriff Court on May 2 with a preliminary hearing on March 8.

The 44-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident near Dalwhinnie.

At the time her husband Patrick paid tribute to her on social media.

He wrote: “Today we have lost the best mum and the best wife and best friend anyone could ever ask for.

“We know she has touched a lot of people in her life. She will be missed by many people. RIP Amanda Harold.”

Mrs Harold was the only occupant of her car and was travelling north when she was involved in a collision with another car.

The vehicles involved were a black Mazda 6 and a Vauxhall Astra estate.

Kerry-Ann Methven was in the other car and was caught up in the collision with her husband and twin daughters.

The family escaped from their vehicle with cuts and bruises.

Mrs Methven offered her condolences to the family of the woman killed in the crash and her thanks to the emergency services who helped at the scene.

She said: “Me, my husband and our twin girls were involved in the accident yesterday on the A9.

“Was so scary for us but we want to say a huge thank you to the people who helped us at the scene until ambulance got to us, you were amazing and all done fantastic.

“We appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts. God bless you all.”

The accident happened at about 10.45am on March 30 last year and the road was closed for around six hours as specialist road policing officers carried out a full investigation at the scene.
