A man who was knocked down and seriously injured in a crash in Inverness has been transferred to hospital in Aberdeen.
The casualty, named locally as Steven Fraser, 36, was struck on the city’s Friar’s Bridge in the early hours of Sunday.
The father of two boys, of Kildonan near Helmsdale, was initially taken to Raigmore Hospital following the collision but has since been transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Driver Andrei Sinzieanu, 25, faced a string of charges when he appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday.
He is accused of dangerous driving, drink-driving, driving without a licence, driving with a fake licence, failing to stop at the scene of a crash and failing to report an accident.
His co-accused, Dorian Savu, 21, also appeared in private and was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice after the accident.
Yesterday a spokeswoman for NHS Grampian was unable to provide a condition update for Mr Fraser.
Mr Fraser, who is a gamekeeper, was thought to be competing in the Snowman Rally event near Inverness the day before the accident.
He has worked at the Suisgill Estate – a famous site at the centre of the 1868 Highland gold rush – for more than a year.
Earlier this week, neighbours said they were shocked by what had happened and prayed for him to make a full recovery.
