A primary school teacher told Fort William Sheriff Court the wet road surface at a bend on the A82 at Onich was “like ice” the day he crashed into an oncoming car.
Mark Reynolds, 42, claimed there had been six other accidents at the same spot and Bear Scotland had carried out work to improve the road surface after his accident last November 3.
Fiscal Cat Dalrymple said the teacher was taken to hospital with broken ribs and the two occupants of the other car, a Fiat, suffered minor injuries.
Reynolds, of Nursery Park, Spean Bridge, told how he was returning from work at Ballachulish Primary when the collision occurred in heavy traffic at 40 mph.
He needed his driving licence as his job entailed visiting a variety of schools in the area.
The teacher admitted careless driving and was fined £500 by Sheriff Bill Taylor with six penalty points.
