A cancer patient has released her own Christmas single to give back to the charity helping her through the illness.
Employment consultant Louise Barron was diagnosed with breast cancer 11 years ago and began writing music to help her cope.
Earlier this month she recorded festive track Christmas With You, which she wrote and composed herself.
Mrs Barron, of Inverness, said: “I think music lifts me – it lets me be creative.
“I love singing and always have, ever since I was a little girl with a hairbrush.
“Having this project to do has kept me really positive, and hopefully it will make a difference.”
In 2015 Mrs Barron’s illness progressed to stage four and she was told it was incurable, but not terminal.
“I wrote this song on my piano around two years ago as I wanted to convey just how important this time of year is to me,” the 53-year-old added.
“Not necessarily for all the lovely gifts I will receive but for having quality time with the special people in my life.
“This is particularly uppermost in my mind now that I have been living with a life-limiting illness for almost three years.”
The track also features members of the Dingwall-based Highland Voices Gospel Choir, which Mrs Barron also performs in.
The group will take to the Inverness Ironworks stage on Friday evening, and Christmas With You will form part of the setlist.
“I feel I have always been a solo artist but I have been getting so much from working with the other singers,” Mrs Barron explained.
“The choir have been so supportive of me.
“I think we are a bit of a family.”
The proceeds from the song will be donated to Maggie’s Cancer Centres throughout the UK.
Mrs Barron said: “Maggie’s is a real lifeline, not just for people with cancer but their families as well.
“The centre is close to treatment, so it’s easy even just to come in and chat to others or go to a class.
“It has been invaluable to me.”
