Police in Caithness are warning drivers about the dangers of speeding after a vehicle was caught travelling in excess of 100mph in the county.
Officers stopped a car on the A99 between Wick and Quoys of Reiss which was found to have been travelling in excess of 100mph on a single carriageway stretch of road with a 60mph limit.
A 25-year-old man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident.
Inspector Marlene Macdonald of the Caithness Policing Team said: “Road safety is a priority for us which is regularly raised by our local communities.
“Whilst the vast majority of motorists drive within the speed limit and appropriately to conditions, it is disappointing that some drivers put themselves and other innocent road users in danger by speeding.
“Excess speed impacts on a drivers ability to control their vehicle and stop if that is required.
“Please pay attention to speed limits and respect the safety of all road users.”
