The fire front, which spanned a mile-and-a-half and covered 124 acres, was between Duirinish and Balmacara.
The fire service received the call at 2.50pm.
A spokesman said that four pumps were in attendance along with a helicopter.
The helicopter was understood to be surveying the scene on behalf of the National Trust for Scotland, which owns the land.
