Road policing officers carried out safety and anti-crime checks on the A82 in the Lochaber area during the weekend.
Officers based in the Highlands worked with colleagues from Argyll and Forth Valley to stop and speak to the drivers of 196 vehicles.
In total 87 offences were detected – 70 of which were related to speeding.
Constable Iain Young said: “It is disappointing to have such a significant number of speeding offences detected in a single weekend, especially considering the volume of people using bicycles on and around the A82 during the mountain bike event at Fort William.
“Whilst the majority of drivers obey the speed limit, these 70 drivers we detected are breaking the law and putting others at risk of harm.”

He added: “The A82 has a 60mph limit which is in place for a reason – for the safety of all road users.
“Please drive at a speed appropriate to the road conditions and within the limit. We will continue to take action against anyone found to be breaking the law.”
