An investigation has begun after a double decker bus went into a ditch on a Highland road yesterday leaving a male passenger injured.
The double decker, owned by transport operator Stagecoach, was travelling from Cromarty to Inverness when it veered off the road into a ditch around 9.20am.
The incident occurred one mile from Balblair near the junction of the B9163 and B9160.
All passengers were evacuated out the rear exit as emergency services raced to the scene.
Police officers and paramedics both remained at the scene for some time, with one male passenger in need of urgent medical attention.
The male casualty was transferred for further medical treatment at Raigmore Hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
A spokeswoman for Stagecoach North Scotland confirmed an investigation would begin to uncover how the incident came to pass. She said: “One of our vehicles was involved in an incident at around 0920 today. We understand one passenger required medical attention and our best wishes are with that passenger. Safety is our absolute priority and we will be investigating the cause of the incident.”
The bus was recovered some time before 12.30pm.
