A farmer was left trapped in his tractor in Nairn this afternoon after ploughing into a ditch in a Highland field.
The tractor became stranded in a field in Hilton of Delnies shortly after 2pm, sparking a hasty response from emergency services.
The ambulance service was first on the scene, dispatching one ambulance to treat the injured casualty.
A spokesman from the ambulance service said: “We received a call at 1404 hours today to attend an incident in the Hilton Of Delnies area.
“We dispatched one ambulance to the scene.”
Upon departure, paramedics called for assistance from police, with officers receiving the call around 2.10pm.
Two fire crews from Nairn were also dispatched to the scene to help free the injured driver as well as a heavy rescue unit from Inverness.
On arrival, fire fighters proceeded to erect scaffolding around the trapped vehicle in an effort to free the trapped driver due to the sheer height of the vehicle, however, no cutting gear was used during the operation.
The male casualty was safely extracted from the vehicle and placed in the care of paramedics at the scene.
He was then taken to Raigmore Hospital by ambulance for further treatment, with his injuries not thought to be life threatening.
