Nairn police have launched an appeal for information after a man behaved indecently towards a woman at the town’s West Beach.

The man departed after the woman expressed her “disgust” at the incident, which happened at around 3.30pm yesterday afternoon, near to the Golf View Hotel.

The man is described as being in his early 20s, around 5ft 6in tall and of slim build, with a fair complexion and sharp features.

He had long curly red hair and was clean shaven.

At the time he was wearing a black and white bandana, a navy zip top and baggy clothing.

He spoke with a Scottish accent and had a deep voice.

Sergeant Graeme Erskine said: “The woman who reported this incident was not harmed in anyway – the man did not make any physical contact and departed when she expressed her disgust at his behaviour.

“That said, an incident like this is always an uncomfortable experience for the victim and I would reassure people we are taking this report very seriously.

“Incidents like this are extremely rare in Nairn and we are carrying out inquiries door to door and using CCTV to identify this man.

“I would also urge anyone who was in the West Beach area at the time or otherwise recognises this individual to get in touch.

“Anyone with information can contact police in Nairn by calling 101 and quoting reference NM153/19.”
