Killer whale spotters in the far north had a treat at the weekend with a large number of sightings in the Pentland Firth.
A pod of three came close to the shore when they swam through Thurso Bay on Saturday morning.
Wildlife photographer Karen Munro raced from her home overlooking Scrabster to get some stunning, close-up shots as the orca surfaced for air.
The Orca I saw yesterday in #caithness are in Kirkwall Bay #orkney this morning. Amazing how quickly they move on, how can anyone think such nomads belong in swimming pools? ?? #EmptyTheTanks pic.twitter.com/fHKKkv0jxt

They were later seen off Dunnet Head and yesterday morning were spotted in Kirkwall Bay.
