A Highland golf club is celebrating after announcing a former PGA Professional is to take the helm as the new chief executive – with plans in place to develop the links course for the future.
Colin Sinclair, who was born in Inverness, has taken over at Nairn Golf Club after displaying his talents at the Carnoustie Golf Links in Angus.
He has vowed to put a similar stamp on the course.
The Carnoustie course is known for being one of the toughest courses in Britain, but Mr Sinclair has opted to leave for pastures new after taking the course as far as he believes he could.
Mr Sinclair, who has relocated to the seaside town alongside his wife Fe and seven-year-old daughter Jill, said: “I am delighted to be in Nairn and whilst I enjoyed my time at Carnoustie I had taken my role there as far as I could and I was keen to get involved in a private members’ club.
“Nairn Golf Club has a great core product – it is amazing. The Highlands is such a fantastic place to stay, play and visit. The people are incredibly friendly.”
He added: “I want to expose our staff to new experiences and opportunities, and we have a range of initiatives in place such as exchange trips with prestigious golf clubs overseas planned.
“I also would like to develop a Golf Development Program reaching out to Juniors, Women into golf, families, seniors and disability golf.
“All I am here to do is work with an already great product, make sure we get recognition for the projects already in place and drive forward new strategies to make sure Nairn remains one of the top Links courses in the country.”
