Police are appealing for information after two men were injured in a Highland crash.

The single vehicle collision involved a white Vauxhall Vivaro and happened around 12.40am yesterday on the A87 at Inverinate.

The van, which had been travelling east in the direction of Shielbridge, left the road near the Inverinate Community Hall and collided with a tree.

Two men – aged 32 and 25 – were taken to Broadford Hospital following the collision.

The 25-year-old was subsequently transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The other man did not suffer any serious injuries.

The road was closed to allow for an investigation at the scene and fully reopened shortly before 8.30am on Sunday.

Road Policing Constable Ross McTaggart said: “We are continuing our inquiries to establish the full circumstances which led to this collision.

“We would ask anyone who may have seen the van on the road prior to the collision to get in touch. If you were on the road around that time then please review any dashcam footage you may have.

“Information can be passed on by calling 101 and quoting reference NP1623/19.

“I would take the opportunity to thank the members of the public who have already assisted with our enquiries and everyone affected by the road closure for their understanding.”
