A 28-year-old Inverness man who committed two drunken assaults was ordered to carry out 130 hours of unpaid community work.
Neil Macdonald, of Benula Road, had previously admitted at Inverness Sheriff Court that he attempted to repeatedly punch a member of staff in the Black Park Filling Station on September 30 last year.
He also threatened to throw the bottle of wine he had stolen at him before being driven off.
Macdonald also admitted assaulting a member of staff at the Co-op store in Telford Street on November 26 last year by attempting to punch him.
Sentence had been deferred for a background report.
Solicitor Duncan Henderson said his client had “a long-standing difficulty with alcohol”.
Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood also ordered Macdonald to participate in an alcohol treatment programme and remain under social work supervision for two years.
