A project to upgrade existing road signs along a stretch of the A9 at Tain will begin later this month.
The £65,000 initiative will involve the installation of new road signs along the full length of the A9 Tain bypass.
The signs will help to clearly identify the junctions on the bypass and the tourist destinations within Tain.
The project has been designed to improve road user awareness of junction locations and layout and help reduce the risk of accidents in the area.
Improvements are planned to begin in mid-September and are expected to take up to two months to complete.
The A9 will remain open throughout the scheme to ensure the safety of road workers and motorists, while temporary traffic lights will be required when installing some of the larger signs. All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.
Eddie Ross, from BEAR Scotland, said: “This road safety project on the A9 Tain bypass will see the existing traffic signs upgraded to the latest design standards. This will help to improve the safety for motorists on the A9, and accessing facilities in Tain.
