Four people were safely evacuated from a burning house in the Highlands.
The fire broke out in the middle of a terrace of eight homes on the High Street, Ardersier shortly after noon on Saturday.
A total of six fire engines attended the scene, from Nairn, Inverness, Forres and Dingwall.
The building was reported to be ‘well alight’ through the roof.
Police said the occupants are “safe and well” but the home has been significantly damaged.
The firefighters required five hose reel jets to tackle the blaze from outside.
Six crew members used breathing apparatus to enter the blazing house as a cordon was erected to seal off the area.
A number of roads in the area were closed including a section of High Street and Stuart Street.
By around 2pm, the fire was reported to be under control and contained to the building where it broke out.
Scottish Hydro Electric officers were on scene to isolate the power, and Sepa was contacted with reports of water running into the drains.
Gas cylinders were removed from an adjacent store.
Highland Council welfare officers were contacted about re-housing for the four people unable to return to the property.
Fire safety officers were also deployed to the scene.
By 3pm, firefighters were able to scale the incident back to four pumps, and dampening down operations were started forty minutes later, using three main jets and one jet.
Firefighters continued to use breathing apparatus to fight the fire from outside.
Dampening down operations with two jets continued until after 7pm.
There are no reports of any casualties in connection with the blaze.
It is understood the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
