
A female pedestrian has sustained serious injuries after being hit by a car in Alness this afternoon.
Parts of the A9 were forced to shut following the incident that happened around 3.40pm.
The woman was treated by ambulance crews.
A spokesman said: “We received reports of a female pedestrian being hit by a car on the A9 around 3.40pm this afternoon.

“The woman sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries.”
The road has now reopened and traffic is beginning to ease.
