Police reviewing the death of a Highland man six years ago will conduct door-to-door inquiries in his home village today.

Stefan Sutherland went missing in Lybster on September 6 2013, and his body was found on the shoreline at nearby Occumster 11 days later on September 17.

Police began a review of the case last year to address concerns raised by Stefan’s family.

Last month, they were informed that at least 10 witnesses who could shed light on his death were never interviewed.

A team of 15 officers from Police Scotland’s major investigations team will be in the villages of Lybster and Latheronwheel over the coming days carrying out door-to-door inquiries.

People in the local community are urged to come forward with any information they may have.

A mobile police office will be parked in Lybster where people can also speak to officers.

Detective Superintendent Graeme Mackie, who is leading the review, said: “We are keen to establish if local residents or anyone who may have visited the area between Friday, September 6 2013 and Tuesday, September 17 2013 has information which may assist our inquiry.
