Health Secretary Jeane Freeman will meet with whistleblowers of the NHS Highland bullying scandal today to deliver an update on the progress of implementing the Sturrock report.

The meeting, which will take place at Assynt House in Inverness, comes just weeks after she met with whistleblowers to inform that a new method of compensation will be delivered to victims.

Ms Freeman is also due to meet with the NHS Highland board after having to cancel her meeting with board members

It will be the first time she has met with the health board since the departure of Chief Executive Iain Stewart.

Dr Iain Kennedy, one of the whistleblowers, said: “We trust that Jeane Freeman has the best interests of staff, victims and whistleblowers at heart and we trust that she is making a determined effort to help victims of bullying.

“It is up to the board to get things back on track and we are still seeking independent psychological support for victims.

“We await to see what form of financial settlement will be offered.

“However, we still need to see more authentic accountability from board members who were in position when bullying was at its peak.”
