Police have this afternoon confirmed a body discovered earlier today near Kyle of Lochalsh is that of missing man Peter Munro.
Mr Munro had been reported missing on Tuesday evening after last leaving the Dornie area.
He was believed to have been hitchhiking back towards his home in the Achintraid area near Lochcarron.
However, earlier today a host of rescue teams including Kyle lifeboat recovered a body from the water just outside of the village.
Police have now said it is the body of the missing 41-year-old.
His next of kin have been informed.
A spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a man was found on the shoreline to the east of Kyle of Lochalsh around 11.30am on Friday March 6.
“He has been identified as Peter Munro, 41, from Achintraid near Lochcarron who had previously been reported missing. His next of kin are aware.
“His body has been recovered with the aid of the Kyle of Lochalsh lifeboat.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
