Global staff return to support energy sector

Employees from Global Energy’s fabrication businesses have resumed work to support energy sector operations.

The firm said around 180 staff across seven facilities in Aberdeen and the Highlands have made a phased return in a “controlled and reduced” manner to meet the Government’s guidelines and permissions of essential and critical work.

The work being undertaken is predominantly for the oil and gas industry.

A spokesman said: “The safety of our workforce is of paramount importance and our senior management and health and safety teams have looked to reduce risk wherever possible in going beyond the government guidelines by putting new processes and awareness training in place.”

Global said the working environment has changed and, before anyone returns to the workplace, each employee has to undertake a mandatory Covid-19 e-learning awareness module to emphasise the firm’s expectations and highlight the changes in procedure.

“All those that are now working have received appropriate PPE, they all complete a daily self-declaration form and attend tool box talks to emphasise the importance of the additional safety requirements, including social distancing, particularly within the welfare facilities, stores and clocking in areas,” the spokesman said.

“There are also added measures of constant monitoring to ensure compliance with the new processes as well as full time cleaning in each of the facilities.”
