Proprietors of the Castle of Mey are giving two lucky winners the royal treatment to raise funds for the NHS.

TV presenter and broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh will take two individuals on an exclusive tour of the grounds of the prestigious Highland retreat, once home to the Queen mother.

The experience – donated by Mr Titchmarsh and The Trustees of The Queen Elizabeth Castle of Mey Trust – is one of a number of prizes gifted by a host of well-known public figures in aid of Bonhams Blue Auction.

All proceeds will be donated to the NHS Charities Covid-19 Urgent Appeal to help support the health and wellbeing of frontline workers and volunteers.

Bonhams managing director for the UK and Europe, Patrick Masson, said: “The NHS staff and volunteers are heroes to us all. We at Bonhams are honored to host this initiative and to donate the skills we have at our auction house to support those who are working so hard for us on the frontline.”

During the private tour, the TV presenter will personally guide you through the walled garden and east garden – cultivated by HRH the Queen Mother and HRH Prince Charles, the Duke of Rothesay – before continuing through the woodland.

The experience will also include a complimentary two night stay for two at the Granary Lodge in the grounds of the castle.

Ellie Orton, chief executive of NHS Charities Together, said: “As the nation adjusts to life in lockdown, the commitment of NHS staff and volunteers shouldn’t be far from our minds.

“It’s easy to feel powerless in these challenging times but this campaign is a way we can make a difference, to look after these heroes so they can give the best care possible in these unprecedented circumstances.”

Other prizes donated to the cause includes joining composer and pianist Jools Holland for drinks behind the scenes at one of his forthcoming shows, joining the cast of The Crown for afternoon tea at the Great Scotland Yard Hotel and a chance to step into the limelight taking on a walk-on role in the filming of series 10 of the BBC hit series Call the Midwife.

The auction will be hosted on Bonhams website until Wednesday. Bids can be made by going to bids@bonhams.com or calling 020 7447 7447.
