A search and rescue team have said they are “very mindful” as a year has elapsed since a man from West Yorkshire went missing in Wester Ross.
Martin Rhodes was last seen leaving his holiday accommodation in Kinlochewe during the morning of May 1 last year.
It is understood he had planned to head for the Fisherfield Forest, an area often referred to as the Great Wilderness, to partake in a walking expedition.
Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team, who were heavily involved in the initial searches for Mr Rhodes, have said they believe the Halifax man had intended to climb at least one of the area’s Munros.
Mr Rhodes failed to return to his hotel and despite searches conducted by team members of the Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team, alongside colleagues from Torridon Mountain Rescue Team, the Search and Rescue Dogs Association (Sarda), as well as coastguard and police helicopters, Mr Rhodes has not yet been traced.
Dundonnell team leader Iain Nesbitt said: “Martin’s family and friends are very much on our minds at the present time.
“I would like to assure them that we will continue to search for him when it is once again possible for us to do so.
“A search had been planned for spring this year but current social distancing restrictions mean that has had to be postponed.”
