A paramedic has issued a message of thanks to northern residents who have adhered to lockdown restrictions.

Karen McLean is based at Caithness Ambulance Station and, on behalf of the crew, has released a video to connect with residents.

The video has been shared on the Scottish Ambulance official Facebook page.

Thanks to Paramedic Karen McLean for this video – a thanks to the public on behalf of Caithness Ambulance Station 🌈👍 Our crews right across the country are doing a brilliant job and your support is greatly appreciated

In it, Ms McLean says: “Thank you to everyone in our community for all your support during these challenging times.

“The kind offers and gestures you give, from cakes, biscuits to PPE have all been greatly appreciated.

“Claps and support on Thursday nights give everyone a lift and shows we really are all in this together.”

She adds: “Please continue to follow the lockdown rules that keep you and us safe. We can do this.”

Last week, fellow Caithness key worker, GP Dr Alison Brooks, also urged people to stay home.

She said: “I can fully appreciate people’s frustrations and desire to get back to their ‘normal’ lives, spending time with friends and family and travelling where they please.

“However, I cannot emphasise enough, that this is not the time to relax and become complacent.”
