Staff at the Highland Hospice are gearing up for an epic 24-hour running challenge to raise funds.
The challenge, scheduled for Friday August 14, will involve 24 members of the hospice team each taking their turn to carry the baton for one hour over the course of a full day.
A fundraising target of £1,000 has been set with more than 60% already raised.
Staff have been keen to play their part in a year where the hospice’s fundraising events have had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.
Charge nurse Catherine Ross, who came up with the idea, said: “I see firsthand the care our patients and their families require, and so thought of this challenge that staff could get behind – 24 people are better than one.
“I was honestly amazed by the response – who knew so many of our staff, from all departments, would be keen to run for an hour.
“We are all passionate about the care the hospice delivers and looking forward to the challenge.”
Staff will be donning their running shoes from 7pm on Friday August 14 before completing the 24-hour challenge at 7pm on the Saturday.
