Work has resumed on a new care home for Fortrose following the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Parklands Care Homes, the creator of the new £5.5million facility, has allowed construction work to resume after being halted for several months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The shutdown of commerce and trade resulted in a number of supply chain difficulties, however, work on the building’s roof has now been completed with workers to begin the internal fit-out in due course.
The new care home will include 40 en-suite bedrooms and 50 full-time equivalent jobs.
Strict social distancing guidelines and hygiene protocols are being implemented to allow teams to complete the project.
Ron Taylor, managing director of Parklands Care Homes, who fitted the last tile on the new development, said: “We are delighted to be back on site and resuming construction.
“We had intended to open the new care home this month but the Covid-19 shutdown affected the industry supply chain and we now anticipate an autumn opening.
“We have had a strong response from local people interested in working at the care home and we are looking forward to moving into Fortrose.”
