A national campaign group have created a Gaelic poster to highlight the effects of menopause.
Pausitivity was formed by women from around the UK and North America, all working together to make menopause a more positive experience.
The group first established their #KnowYourMenopause poster campaign through their frustrations surrounding the lack of information available through the local GP.
Campaigners have now reached a major milestone creating the world’s first menopause poster in Scottish Gaelic.
Elizabeth Carr-Ellis, founder of the campaign group, said: “When we started the posters at first we just did it in English and being English I thought that was fine and then a connection in Wales who said, we really need these bilingual in Wales because we are a bilingual country. That got me thinking about how we do speak more than just English in Britain so I really wanted the posters to try and reflect that.”
The poster created by Allyson Shields of Shields Design in Glasgow has also been published in English, Welsh and Urdu.
Mrs Ellis added: “It’s been about a year that I have been trying to get this done so I’m really pleased with it.”
MSP Christina McKelvie, a supporter of the campaign, said: “By having the #KnowYourMenopause campaign posters in GP surgeries, workplaces and other public places across the country we can continue to tackle the unfair stigma and discrimination that still surrounds the menopause.
“I have been a strong advocate of destigmatising these issues in my time in the Scottish Parliament and was delighted to help Elizabeth and Clare extend the outreach of their campaign into Scotland’s Gaelic speaking communities. The Scottish Parliament’s Gaelic translation team were incredibly helpful with this.”
