Crowds of spectators are expected to gather at the Commando Memorial in Spean Bridge on Saturday to watch a ceremony marking the role of elite troops in the area.
Around 30,000 commandos trained at Achnacarry in Lochaber for the battles in World War II.
A helicopter flying the white ensign will hover over the memorial during the ceremony at around 11.45am. A pipe band will play and a two-minute silence will be held.
The event will also mark the launch of Lochaber Archaeological Society’s new Commando Trail, which consists of interpretation panels at eight locations, starting at Spean Bridge Station, where the commandos arrived by train before marching to Achnacarry.
The ceremony at the memorial will be followed by a 1940s-themed gala at Caol Community Centre.
