From soft drinks to aftershave and stripping off to promote underwear, David Beckham has travelled the globe shooting a host of iconic adverts.

And for his latest venture, the former footballer has taken the Highlands to heart to showcase Scotland’s most famous spirit.

The 39-year-old embarked on a hush-hush tour of the north last week, where he was seen at various Ross-shire beauty spots starring in a mystery film.

Brand bosses kept quiet about what the former Manchester United star was up to.

But drinks giant Diageo revealed last night that it was all in aid of Scotch whisky – the latest in a long line of products to get the Brand Beckham touch.

The sports star joined film director and good friend, Guy Ritchie, at the Glen Affric estate in Inverness-shire to shoot a second advert for Haig Club whisky.

Diageo announced in April that it had struck up a partnership with Beckham, media and entertainment entrepreneur Simon Fuller and Scotland’s oldest grain whisky dynasty, House of Haig, to create the new single grain dram.

When the footballer shot his first promotional film for the brand at the 99 Hanover Street bar in Edinburgh earlier this year, he was mobbed by fans desperate for a glimpse of one of the most famous men in the world.

This time, he was kept well away from prying eyes.

However, last night, Diageo released a snap of Beckham and Ritchie enjoying a glass of Haig Club whisky on the banks of a Highland loch to give followers a taste of what is to come.

Clutching a bottle of the spirit in one hand and a glass in the other, Beckham looks dapper in a green velvet dinner jacket, teamed with a white shirt, black bow tie and black shoes.

The father-of-four said he was delighted to be working with the drinks giant.

“The House of Haig has a rich history and I’m proud to be working at the heart of a home-grown brand which has built an incredible heritage over 400 years,” he said.

“Working closely with Diageo, we look forward to collaborating on Haig Club, valuing and treasuring the Haig traditions while reinventing this whisky for years to come.”
