Five people who taken to hospital after a late-night one vehicle crash on a Highland road do not have life-threatening injuries.

The accident happened just after 11pm on Wednesday on the B862 Fort Augustus to Inverness road, near Aldourie School, Dores.

Police confirmed that the car had left the road, which remained open while emergency services worked at the scene.

All five occupants of the vehicle were in their late teens, or early 20s, and were taken to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.

Their injuries are non life-threatening, and they had all got out of the car before the arrival of the emergency services.

An ambulance spokeswoman said: “We got the call at 11.20pm, took three male, and two female patients, to Raigmore Hospital.”

Two fire and rescue teams from Inverness – including a heavy rescue unit – were sent to the scene at 11.25pm.

A fire and rescue spokesman said: “Everyone was out prior to our arrival, all casualties were in the care of the ambulance. Our crews assisted with lighting and making the scene safe.”
