Scottish rockers The Proclaimers will return to the Highlands next year after being named as the top act of the 2015 Belladrum Tartanheart Festival.

The Reid brothers, Charlie and Craig, will headline the festival exactly 10 years after their last appearance.

They will be the first ever Thursday night headliners at the festival which is being extended to three nights.

The Beauly gig will be the first stop on the band’s world tour in support of a new album due for release next Spring.

They will be performing new material along with hits like I’m Gonna Be (500 miles) and Letter from America.

Craig and Charlie said: “We are absolutely delighted to heading back to Belladrum after 10 years since we first played there in 2005.

“It has been fantastic to see the festival grow from strength to strength and we look forward immensely to returning and playing the Garden Stage next August.”

Festival promoter Joe Gibbs said: “I can’t think of a more appropriate act to launch our first year of offering an extra main stage headliner at Bella.”

“The Proclaimers gave the event the support it needed from a major Scottish act in its difficult second year.

“Who better, now, to launch our new third night on the main stage?”

Further acts for the festival will be announced around March or April 2015, including two further headliners and a host of other acts.

The 2014 edition of Belladrum saw record breaking crowds watch the legendary Sir Tom Jones play his first Highland show, while other star performers included Razorlight, Billy Bragg and Frightened Rabbit.

Tickets are now on sale for next year’s festival, which takes place between August 6-8.

In order to see The Proclaimers, patrons will need to buy a three day ticket to the event, while regular weekend tickets are also available.

Tickets are available through the festival’s website.
