Police investigating the discovery of a body in a railway station car park are looking at the possibility that it may be that of a woman who has been missing since before Christmas.
The body was discovered on Monday afternoon in a car park used by train drivers and staff at Stirling railway station.
The missing woman, 49-year-old Christine Henley, who had “significant drug problems”, has not been seen since November 26.
She previously lived in Alness, Easter Ross, before moving to the St Ninians area of Stirling. Transport Police said the woman’s death was being treated as “unexplained”.
Officers were still at the scene today, with police cordons in place. Inquiries were ongoing to firmly establish the identity of the dead woman.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said today: “A woman’s body was found in the vicinity of Stirling railway station at about 14:15 on Monday.
“Her death is being treated as unexplained at this stage.”
