Coastguard teams have been called to aid a pair of stranded walkers from an iconic Lochinver mountain.
Poor weather conditions forced a man and a woman climbing the 2,400ft Suilven, in the Assynt mountain range, to call for help at around 11.30am.
Mountain rescue teams have just arrived on scene in the Stornoway Coastguard rescue helicopter.
The mountain range is said to have been affected by wind and plumetting temperatures.
A Stornoway Coastguard spokesman said: “We have got the coastguard helicopter in the mountains in Lochinver.
“Two persons – one male, one female – came into some difficulties, there is poor visibility and poor weather, it is cold and wet, and they needed some assistance.
“The coastguard helicopter is up there as we speak. That has been going on for a good while, it started at 11.30am and is just finished off just now.
“We’re communicating with them (the walkers) with their mobile phones.”
He said there had been no reports of any injuries yet.
