War veterans and young cadets paraded through Lochgilphead at the weekend for Armed Forces Day.
The event is the only one of its kind in Argyll, and was organised by new lottery millionaires Geordie and Betty Rhodick.
The procession made its way down the town’s main street to Lochgilphead Front Green before a day of celebrations and entertainment took place.
Local MP Brendan O’Hara, who is the SNP’s defence spokesman, attended the event and inspected some of the cadet troops.
He said: “It was a great day, luckily we got the weather. It was a huge turnout, bigger than I expected and from speaking to the organisers, bigger than they expected too.
“It has grown from nothing five years ago, to becoming a big fixture in the Argyll calendar. It was great.
“It was the first time I had ever done anything like that so I was very proud to be asked and quite humbled as these veterans marched past. It was great to get to speak to them and hear their stories.
“Young cadets came from every part of Argyll and they were a credit to their trainers.
“While the SNP is and will always be anti-Trident, we are pro defence and very much in support of the veterans.”
