A disabled pensioner has spoken of the moment he was robbed at gunpoint in his Highland home.
Geoffrey Davidson, 70, who uses a wheelchair and walking frame, said he had been a “bag of nerves” since the vicious attack by 16-year-old Ryan Renicks.
Renicks, who had known Mr Davidson since he was a young boy, pointed a gun at the pensioner’s head and threatened to slit his throat with a knife as he desperately sought cash.
Mr Davidson, a father-of-five, of Pipersfield, Alness, had been in his living room when Renicks entered the house unannounced on June 6.
Mr Davidson said: “He was asking for money and I said he couldn’t have any so he went off again, going on that he was going to sort me out.”
Less than an hour later Renicks returned armed with a gun and a large knife.
Mr Davidson said: “He held this gun at my head and the knife. I offered him £20 but he wouldn’t take it.
“You could see in his eyes he was desperate.
“He took £80 right out of wallet and then gave me a false name as if I was stupid. I know perfectly well who he is.
“I’ve been a bag of nerves since, the slightest noise at night makes me jump.”
A neighbour heard the noise from Mr Davidson’s home and went outside just as Renicks was leaving, taking a photo of him which was then passed to police.
Mr Davidson, a former coal delivery man, said that the community had rallied round him since the attack.
He said: “Everyone’s been good to me.”
Renicks admitted a charge of assault and robbery at Inverness Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
The court heard the gun was examined and appeared to be a replica of an assault rifle but was unlikely to cause a fatal wound, even if it was fired at close range.
The teenager, who is a first offender, will return to court on September 15 for sentencing.
He has been detained in custody until his next appearance.
