Police reported four drivers last weekend

Police in the Highlands have reported four drivers for motoring offences as part of an ongoing operation to improve road safety.

After receiving information from the public two cars were pulled over last Saturday, one in Tomich and the other at Caithness.

Both drivers were found to have been committing drink driving offences.

On the same weekend a car was found to have been travelling at 120mph on the A832 Cromarty-Gairloch road and another motorcycle was spotted travelling at 110mph.

All four drivers have now been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Area commander for North Highland, Chief Inspector Iain MacLelland said:

“There is still a number of road users who put both themselves and the lives of others at risk by driving at speed or driving under the influence of alcohol.

“In reference to driving under the influence of alcohol, I would like to thank those members of the public who have provided us with information which we act upon and has resulted in two drivers being reported for drink driving.

“As part of the Operation Route initiative, enforcement action will continue to reduce the number of persons killed or injured on roads in our communities.”
