Motorists on the A82 Fort William to Glasgow road are being warned to expect delays due to two sets of road works scheduled for May and June – including the Spring Bank Holiday.

A82 Partnership spokesman Stewart MacLean pointed out that trunk road maintenance agency Bear Scotland appeared to be unaware of the bank holiday and its impact on traffic on the A82.

The agency is planning to carry out essential resurfacing work between Tyndrum and Rannoch summit from Monday May 30 to Friday June 3.

This work will also be carried out between 7am and 7pm, with a 10mph convoy traffic management system in place for the safety of road workers and motorists.

A 30mph speed limit is to remain in place outwith working hours as traffic will be travelling over a temporary road surface.

In a letter to local people about this scheme, Bear routine maintenance manager Seymour Macleod wrote: “The urgent works will address three recently identified areas near Central/Stirling boundary, just south of Bridge of Orchy and another area south of Rannoch summit and Ba Bridge, which have deteriorated over the winter period.”

Bear Scotland is also planning to renew the high friction surfacing on the approaches to the Ballachulish roundabout in Lochaber from Monday May 9 to Friday May 20.

The work is to be carried out under temporary traffic lights between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday.

The agency thanked the local community for their patience while these essential works were being carried out.
