A brazen thief admired a man’s bike in a Lochaber town then asked if he could have a go on it – before riding off.
A police spokesman said the incident happened at about 4.45pm on Sunday May 8.
He said: “A male approached the complainer sitting on a bench at The Parade, Fort William, complimenting him on his bicycle.
“After asking the complainer to try the bicycle out, the suspect rode off on the bicycle towards the An Aird area.”
The man who took the bike is described as white, 6ft tall and of slim build, with short dark hair.
He was aged about 22 and wearing dark blue jeans, with no top.
