New dates have been set for the hearing of a Grantown care home boss accused of telling a resident they are “here to die anyway”.

John Charters faces 14 charges relating to his conduct while working as deputy manager at Grandview House Care Home in Grantown between November 2013 and July 2014.

His hearing in front of the Nursing and Midwifery Council has been adjourned twice twice since it began in February.

It will now resume on Tuesday, June 28 in Edinburgh.

Among the charges he faces is that he slapped a resident on her bare bottom and said to her “I’ll be your Samson if you’ll be my Delilah”.

He is also accused of telling a colleague that a different resident was “here to die anyway” when asked for medication.

He is also alleged to have failed to have maintained the dignity of a resident when she had fallen in the main reception area by not placing a screen around her or ensuring other residents were moved away.

In July 2016, Mr Charters was cleared to work again after the NMC found 10 of the charges not proven. Of the four charges which were proven, none were deemed by the panel to amount to misconduct. See our story here.
