Friends and family of a Thurso teenager killed in a road crash took an emotional memorial drive to the scene of the accident over the weekend.
Eddie Laing died early on Thursday after his Peugeot 306 left the A99 Wick to John O’Groats road and collided with an unoccupied house, just to the south of the village of Keiss.
The 19-year-old’s family laid flowers at the scene of the accident on Saturday evening .
They led a procession of friends in cars and motorbikes from their hometown in Thurso to spot in a poignant tribute.
Mr Laing’s father, also Edward, said the teenager lived for motorcycles and cars.
He was joined at the crash scene by Eddie’s mother Roselean and sister Lauren, as well as more than 50 friends.
Mr Laing said: “Eddie was a very young man who was completely fascinated with motorbikes and cars, that was what we lived for.
“He was a big, soft boy with a big heart who went out of his way to help people.
“He’s been taken from us at just 19-years-old, he was so young.”
“He was quite an active boy who loved his motorbikes and used to ride them up and down with his friends.
“He was a proper boy.”
As well as riding motorcycles, Eddie was fascinated with mechanics and would strip vehicles down and then rebuild them, as well as helping friends with any issues.
The accident happened at about 3.15am on Thursday.
Mr Laing was the only occupant of the car and is understood to have died at the scene.
Following the tragedy, Michael Cannop, also of Thurso, paid tribute to the young man he described as his “best friend”.
He added: “He was a lovely guy. Everyone respected him, I never heard a bad word said about him.”
Specialist road policing officers carried out at full investigation at the scene, with the road remaining closed for nearly 12 hours.
A police spokesman said: “As with all sudden deaths a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
