Oil worker armed with knife told neighbours making him angry was a “stupid thing to do”

An offshore oil worker frightened his neighbours when he turned up at their door armed with a knife.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that 25-year-old Connor Williamson had taken drink and drugs before going to the Telford Court flat in January last year.

Williamson, now of King Street, Inverness, said he wanted to ask his neighbours a question, but when the knife was spotted, he put his foot in the door to prevent it being shut.

Yesterday, he appeared from custody and admitted behaving in an abusive and threatening manner, presenting a knife and uttering threats.

He also pleaded guilty to failing to appear for an earlier hearing.

Fiscal depute Roderick Urqurhart said: “The neighbour was able to force the door closed and locked it. Williamson went to his flat and returned, shouting and swearing, stating that the neighbour had made him angry and it was a stupid thing to do.

“The police were called.”

Defence solicitor Clare Russell said her client now appeared on much less serious charges and would not seek off-shore employment until his case was over.

Sheriff Margaret Neilson released Williamson on bail pending a background report until January 13.
