An unemployed scaffolder was jailed for six months at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday after admitting a number of charges including theft and failing to appear for court.
Paul Martin, of Mackintosh Road, Inverness, was arrested on warrant and appeared from custody before Sheriff David Sutherland.
The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to two charges of failing to turn up for court dates on June 21 and October 18.
He also admitted attempting to pervert the course of justice by giving a false name to police.
The court heard he had been stopped for not wearing a seat belt on April 7 in Milton Crescent.
It then emerged that he was not insured for the car.
He was disqualified from driving for a year.
Martin also admitted stealing four bottles of brandy from the Tesco store in Eastfield Way on October 19.
