Police have cordoned off a residential area of Inverness amid reports of a “serious incident” late last night.
Officers were called to Oldtown Road in the late hours and locals have reported a large amount of police activity in the area.
Police are now understood to be guarding the scene and waiting for a forensic team to arrive.
One local resident, who asked not to be named, said that a group of men had forced their way into a property on the road and “seriously assaulted” the occupier.
No further information is yet available on the condition of the individual involved.
A spokesman for Police Scotland was unable to comment this morning but confirmed that officers are dealing with the incident.
