All-day dance-a-thons are to take place inside the Inverness Eastgate Centre this Friday and Saturday.

From 10am to 4pm on Friday, dance instructors will lead classes through various styles of dance in a charity fundraiser. The event is fundraising for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, MFR Cash for Kids and The Archie Foundation.

Eastgate Shopping Centre Manager Jackie Cuddy said: “We are very excited for this year’s One Great Day event. It has been a few years since we have taken part in this event, so we have high hopes that our shoppers will get their dancing shoes on and help us raise some money for the three amazing causes.”

On Saturday, Falcon Square outside of the Centre will turn into a seaside beach, kitted out with children’s sandpit, ice cream van and deck chairs as the venue for a family fun day. Inside the centre the dance-a-thon will continue with both adults and children encouraged to take part and learn some new dance moves.

Fancy dress is encouraged for those attending, with a parade to take place at 3pm at Falcon Square, with the best fancy dress costume being awarded £30 of Eastgate vouchers.

Jackie Cuddy added: “Having been involved in this event from the beginning it really is amazing to see what the money raised from this event can do! We are aiming big this year and really hope that people get behind us.”

The One Great Day event has been running at shopping centres across the UK since 2014, raising £400,000 for over 90 different children’s charities.
