Emergency services are continuing to search for a walker missing for the past two days in Kinlochewe, Wester Ross.

Martin Rhodes, 46, West Yorkshire was reported missing during Wednesday evening, having been last seen around 8.30 that morning.

Police are appealing for any information which may help trace him.

They say he may have planned to go walking locally and searches have been ongoing in the Kinlochewe area during Thursday.

Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team, Torridon Mountain Rescue Team, Search and Rescue Dogs Association and HM Coastguard R151 are involved in the search.

Dundonnell is asking walkers planning on heading in to the Fisherfield area from Dundonnell or Poolewe to keep an eye out for the missing man.

Mr Rhodes is described as being 5ft 4in tall and of slight build with short brown hair.

It is not known what he was wearing but he was carrying a black rucksack.

Inspector Jamie Wilson said: “Martin is an experienced hill walker but it is out of character for him to be out of contact for this length of time.

“We are continuing to urge anyone with information which could help locate him to get in touch.

“Our searches have been focused on the popular Slioch hillwalking route from Kinlochewe but I would ask anyone who believes they might have seen Martin, or has information on where he planned to walk, to let us know.

“With the conditions having turned colder, I would also ask anyone with a shed, outhouse or somewhere that a person could have sought shelter to check them thoroughly.

“Anyone with information which could help is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 4582 of May 1.”
