A 34-year-old man has died at an Inverness hotel after taking ill suddenly.
The male was staying at the Pentahotel on Academy Street when the incident occurred shortly before 8am yesterday morning.
It is understood he was using the hotel’s gym when he collapsed.
Emergency service raced to the hotel in an effort to save him but he sadly died at the scene a short time later.
An ambulance spokesman said: “We received a call at 7.43am to attend to a patient who had fallen ill at an address on Academy Street, Inverness. We dispatched two ambulances to the scene.”
One police unit was also on hand to assist following reports of a sudden death.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland was made aware of the sudden death of a 34-year-old man within a hotel on Academy Street in Inverness shortly after 7.50am on Monday, May 20.
“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
