Drunk man jailed for kicking wrong door

A homeless man was jailed for 60 days at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday after he admitted vandalising a door.

Liam Macdonald, 24, cracked the pane of glass while trying to get into his accommodation on April 11 this year.

But the court heard he was drunk and got the wrong door. He was filmed kicking the door on CCTV.

Macdonald, of Old Royal Hotel, Union Street, admitted vandalising the door at the Waverley Guest House, also in Union Street.

Defence lawyer Neil Wilson said: “He had taken various intoxicants and thought he was still staying there. It was a vain attempt to get in.”

Macdonald, who also admitted previous convictions, was jailed for 60 days.

Property tycoon Ruchir Gupta, who runs the Kingraig House Hotel in Invergordon, smiled at the camera as he was filmed for his YouTube channel called Richie On Tour.
The video showed the millionaire jet-setter flying in a private plane from Malaga to Inverness Airport before taking to Highland roads in his limited edition Bentley Continental Supersport vehicle.
