An Inverness community centre will get new windows and a new bike rack thanks to a donation from Highland Council.
Merkinch Community Centre plans to spend a total of £30,000 on the upgrade of their building in Coronation Park.
The popular centre has an average of 27,500 users a year.
The improvement scheme will include replacement of large single glazed steel-framed windows on the playroom and Skinner Room – a large meeting room which seats up to 90 people.
A bicycle rack and new signs will also be purchased.
The council’s resources committee has now agreed to give £15,000 from the capital discretionary budget, allowing the project to go ahead.
Inverness Common Good Fund has already donated £15,000 towards the scheme.
Councillor Bet McAllister said that she was delighted at the agreement of funding.
She said that the replacement of the windows would save energy and lower heating costs.
“More importantly, it will make it a warmer environment for the users.
“The Merkinch Community Centre is a valuable asset in the area and indeed across Inverness and the management strive to achieve high standards with the variety and number of activities that go on on a daily basis.”
Fellow ward councillor Richard Laird said: “This is tremendous news for everyone at Merkinch Community Centre. It will ensure that the building is fit for purpose and will save £5,000 a year in energy costs.”
