Traffic disruption in and around Inverness

Motorists in Inverness face traffic restrictions on a busy road this week.

Temporary traffic lights will be in operation on King Brude Road at its junctions with Scorguie Road and Canal Road from this morning.

The roadworks are to allow the installation of a new telecommunications cabinet, in connection with maintenance and upgrading works to a telecommunications mast on King Brude Road.

The traffic lights will be place until Friday and will be operated during off-peak hours only – from 9.30am-3.30pm.

During peak hours, they will be operated manually.

Meanwhile there will be overnight disruption on the A9 Inverness-Perth road this week to allow vital resurfacing work.

The road surface of the southbound dual carriageway at Moy is deteriorating and must be replaced.

The £78,000 project also involves installing new road studs and white lining.

The roadworks will take place between 7pm and 7am from Thursday July 2, lasting for two days.

Traffic will be restricted at A9’s northernmost junction with the B9154 at Moy.

Diversions will be provided via the A9 and the southern junction.

Eddie Ross, Bear Scotland’s north west operating company representative, said; “These essential resurfacing works are required to fix a number of cracks, potholes and other defects in the road surface, improving the safety of the junction.

“We would ask drivers to pay attention to the traffic measures and temporary signage in place during the improvements and plan ahead as much as possible before starting their journey. It is always recommended to check Traffic Scotland for the latest travel information.”
