Two cars and a cyclist were involved in a collision in Inverness-shire yesterday afternoon which resulted in a child being taken to hospital.
The accident happened on the A862 road just north of Beauly, on an area known as the “Beauly straight,” at about 4.50pm.
A police spokesman said that the cyclist escaped with a scraped knee but firefighters from Beauly and Dingwall were called out at about 5.20pm to help free a man in his 60s from one of the cars.
The man was handed over to paramedics from a helimed ambulance for transfer to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
A child was also taken to the hospital by road ambulance.
An ambulance spokesman confirmed that in both cases the casualties are “thought to be stable.”
He added that no one else has been hurt in the collision.
A police spokesman also confirmed that the road was closed.
A fire service spokeswoman said that a heavy rescue unit from Inverness also attended the incident.
